Ilkley, Olicana to the Romans, had several phases of fort throughout the occupation from the later first century onwards. The fort is behind All Saints' church and the Manor House museum, currently only open weekends.
Very little remains of the fort, the most obvious feature being the northern banking, facing the flood plain of the River Wharfe.
There's a couple of interpretation boards around the site, as well as a small marker in the ground where the northern gate was located.
A small section of the masonry of the western wall and corner turret is exposed. This may be from a reconstruction c.197-8 that may be linked to an inscription from the site, now sadly lost, with a dedication to Septimius Severus and Caracalla by Virius Lupus.
