Although the fort left an impression on the current street plan, at least from the main camp roads, the river crossing point changed. Crossing the Ouse on Lendal Bridge, the archway below the Guildhall, partially obscured by boats, aligns with the camp gate (the Porta Praetoria) in St Helen's Square and is the presumed location of the Roman bridge crossing to the vicus.
