Viewed from the mediaeval city walls the corner tower and wall of the Roman fort, diagonally opposite to the Multangular Tower. The curving stone wall behind the squared one is modern. In the curved fort wall in front of the tower (not visible in the photo) is an inscribed brick to the tenth cohort, presumably of the sixth or ninth legions whose base it was.
