10. The Roman bath house

The pub that houses the Roman military bath house. The remains of the caldarium and some of the artefacts are visible in the cellar that is accessed via a side door. A lovely small museum covering life in Roman York that deserves a visit.

Roman tiles, bedsides the legionary stamp of the ninth legion also showing the marks of everyday life, boot prints and paw prints in the wet clay left before firing



In the bar itself is a small exhibition of Roman artefacts.
